Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS)

How brands run their own resale channels

Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) refers to third-party technology platforms that enable brands and retailers to launch and operate their own branded resale channels without building infrastructure from scratch. RaaS providers supply the logistics, authentication, pricing algorithms, inventory management systems, and customer service tools needed to run a secondhand marketplace. This model allows brands like Patagonia or Lululemon to offer trade-in programs and resell pre-owned items under their own brand identity, maintaining customer relationships and capturing value from secondary markets. For the resale industry, RaaS represents a critical growth vector as it transforms brands from potential competitors into participants, expanding the total addressable market while legitimizing secondhand commerce through brand endorsement and quality assurance.
