ThredUp vs Poshmark
Managed thrift versus social selling.
ThredUp and Poshmark solve the resale problem differently. ThredUp is managed: sellers send in a bag and the operator does the processing and selling. Poshmark is peer-to-peer and social: sellers list, share, and ship their own goods.
The tradeoff is effort versus control and payout. ThredUp asks almost nothing of the seller but pays less per item after doing the work. Poshmark demands active selling but lets sellers keep more and set their own prices.
For sellers with time and inclination, Poshmark's social model can pay better. For those who just want a closet cleared with no effort, ThredUp's managed model is the path of least resistance.
